When the switch was flipped to light up the National Christmas tree on The Ellipse near the White House in Washington, D.C. Dec. 4, Cat Entertainment Services was onsite to power up the main show and broadcasts of the ceremony.

While the tree itself is powered by the National Park Service, two twin pack Cat generators were needed to supply the power for the big event and make sure the rest of the world could see it happen on live TV. A 400 kW twin pack provided power for the lighting, audio, video and TV tech power. A 300 kW twin was used to power the broadcast productions, president’s quarters, talent acts and Google VIP party.

Hosted by Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony featured a speech by President Barack Obama and performances by Fifth Harmony, Patti LaBelle, NE-YO, The Tenors and other artists of note.
