CAT Entertainment Services Attends Concert Touring Event

Mitch Margolin Represents CAT Entertainment Services at Tour Link 2011

This January, CAT Entertainment Servicesâ Senior Account Manager Mitch Margolin had the distinct honor to take part in a panel discussion at Tour Link 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Tour Link is an annual conference of approximately 500 event production professionals (most attendees prefer "roadie") responsible for staging live concert tours across the world. Participants spent three days at the event, learning, networking and meeting some of the industry legends in their highly specialized, event production world.

This year the annual conference featured 14 panel sessions led by industry experts, hand-picked to exchange dialogue with the audience and offer the benefit of their wisdom and experience. Mitch Margolin, CAT Entertainment Services’ very own concert tour pro, sat on the "Festival Challenges" panel. Margolin joined what the February issue of Mobile Production Monthly called "a wide representation of festival experts". Margolin’s panel included the tour manager for Phish, the president of Brown United Staging, the production manager for the Coachella festival and the owner of Rat Sound in a discussion about managing festival logistics.

Organized by Tour Guide Publications, Tour Link is considered the premier gathering of the live event production industry, so it is quite an honor to be invited to take part. Mitch really did us all proud!

Clean Reliable Power Provided for National Football Championship Broadcast

February 08, 2011 02:27

Cat® Entertainment Services tackles Old Man Winter to ensure national football championship broadcast and events ran smoothly.portable power generator

Neither ice nor record-breaking cold could keep Cat Entertainment Services from delivering on its promise to supply clean, reliable power to FOX Sports at the big game this past Sunday. The power requirements for the broadcast had been determined months in advance by the Cat Team and addressed with attention to every detail. On game day, their elite combination of Caterpillar® generator power and technical proficiency made all the difference.

In addition to the FOX Sports broadcast, Cat Entertainment Services supplied the power, heating and technical services at various pre-game and corporate hospitality events. Fans and officials attending these activities at Cowboys Stadium and throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area remained informed, entertained and comfortable. Although it took Dallas natives and visiting football fans by surprise, the Cat Entertainment technicians—unfazed by the abnormally wintry weather—had no problem coordinating the transmission of more than 16 MW of power through almost 39 miles of cable. That’s enough energy to power a community of 400,000 households!

Following the big game, Cat Entertainment Services’ February schedule includes other high-profile sports broadcast assignments, such as power for the NBA's All Star Game, NASCAR's Speed Week and the Daytona 500. Also in February, Cat Entertainment Services will provide back-up power for the live Grammy broadcast and remote power for the re-start of U2’s world tour, which kicks off in South Africa.

Green Backup a Powerful Solution for Broadcast Production

August 27, 2009 12:46
Cat Entertainment Services supplies greener backup power options for live television broadcast operations.

Greener Power SolutionsIn August, Cat Entertainment Services supplied backup power for the live television broadcast of the "So You Think You Can Dance" finale at the Kodak Theatre. Unlike conventional backup systems that require continuous operation of diesel generators, Cat Entertainment Services’ 350-kVA UPS (uninterruptible power supply) runs in sync with a biodiesel generator, but only if triggered by a power problem.

The Kodak Theatre faces many unique challenges when balancing the production needs of the entertainment industry with the comfort and well-being of a close-knit community. Dwayne Jones, senior director of Strategic Alliances & Special Events for the Hollywood & Highland Center, was impressed by Cat Entertainment Services’ commitment to provide the perfect backup power solution: one that wouldn’t pollute the neighborhood environment with diesel generator exhaust or noise—especially during the dog days of summer!
