While fans watched sports history being made live on TV, Cat Entertainment Services was working hard behind the scenes to ensure no loss of power would interrupt the action. Onsite at NRG stadium, 16 CES technicians manned 8,600 kW of generator power, 1,300 kVA of UPS-supported power, and more than seven miles of cable.

Cat® Entertainment Services (CES) recently introduced an innovative solution for backup power at live-sports-production truck compounds: uninterruptible power supply (UPS) featuring the hardware, software and network connectivity that allow technicians to anticipate problems and respond preemptively.

Phil Wessels, CES national sales manager, attributes the need for high-tech backup power to the ever-expanding role of computers in broadcast operations and the ever-increasing power required to accommodate them onsite. Security, communications encryption, data analytics, and predictive maintenance are now driving the power solutions CES offers, he says.
