For two weekends in April, Cat Entertainment Services powered up The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival — one of the biggest music and arts festivals in the world.
The 2015 Coachella festival took place April 10-12 and again April 17-19 at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California and featured many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. This year’s headliners included AC/DC, Drake, and Jack White, Florence and the Machine, Kaskade, and many more.
More than half a million people attended the festival during the six day period.
Cat Entertainment Services was tasked with powering the entire festival’s 6 stages, art installations , artist compounds , air conditioned VIP tents, production compounds , guest RV compounds for the stars, VIP camping tents , food and beverage, sponsor air conditioned tents, live TV broadcasts , medical tents, police stations , 526 individually lit Palm trees, restaurants, entrances , ticket booths and living quarter cabins for workers.
Load-in began March 31, requiring the installation of more than 90 generators to power the entire festival — from performance stages, art installations, artist compounds, air-conditioned VIP and sponsor tents, production and broadcast compounds, RV compounds and VIP camping tents to food and beverage stands, medical tents, police stations, lighting facilities, restaurants, ticket booths and workers’ living quarters. A team of approximately 19 CES techs from LA, Orlando and Dallas remained onsite throughout the festival to ensure flawless operation on all fronts.
As soon as Coachella came to an end, the CES technician team began rearranging the equipment on the same site for a completely different festival scheduled to open the very next weekend!
In just a few days, the CES team had managed to reinstall all of the temporary equipment necessary to ensure Stagecoach went off without a hitch. In addition to powering the festival stages, CES delivered and installed the power to 930 RVs — 560 50-amp vehicles plus 370 30-amp vehicles — in less than 36 hours.
